According to our tests, the 13-inch and 15-inch models lives up to Dells expectations. The 15-inch with the 4K display however brought down the average battery life tremendously; from about 15 hours to 9 hours. Also; the 13-inch model has the Y-Series processors that promotes battery efficiency. Dell Advertises the battery to hold a strong and normal charge for around 18-24 months.

  • Keyboard and Touchpaddell-XPS-2in1-laptop-keyboard

    • Keyboard – The 13-inch models keyboard has had relatively positive reviews. The keystrokes feel nice and deep while maintaining a smooth experience similar to the standard 13-inch model. The 15-inch model on the other has received mix reviews. The keystrokes for the 15-inch model are only .7mm deep, giving a somewhat awkward feeling of typing on a flat surface. Dell has engineered a magnetic levitation system called “Mag-Lev” to provide tactile resistance to counteract the keys depth problem. Once you get used to the keyboard, its functions are smooth but still not nearly as smooth as typing on the 13-inch models.
    • Touchpad – Compared to other new Ultrabook's on the marker the Dell XPS's touchpad feels outdated, but it gets the job done and has a nice feel to it.

    Computing

    • CPU – The Dell XPS has a few CPU options depending on what model you choose.
      • 13-inch model – Uses a 7th Generation Y-Series Processor which “utilizes a power efficient microarchitecture, advances process technology, and silicon optimizations to deliver faster performance than previous generations processors. The Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology, boosts performance precisely when it is needed, and saving energy when it counts” (Intel).
      • 7th Generation Intel® Coreâ„¢ i5-7Y54 Processor (4M cache, up to 3.2 GHz)
      • 7th Generation Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-7Y75 Processor (4M cache, up to 3.6 GHz)
      • 15-Inch model – Uses Intel's newer 8th Generation Processors
      • 8th Generation Intel® Coreâ„¢ i5-8305G Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.8 GHz)
      • 8th Generation Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-8705G Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.1 GHz)
  • Graphics – The 13-inch has an integrated Intel HD Graphics card, so unless you plan on adding an external GPU; don't even think about doing any hardcore gaming. That along with its Y-Series Processor limitations ultimately should send any real gamer away. The 15-inch model on the other hand comes with a Radeon RX Vega M GL Graphics Card which is impressive for a laptop that doesn't have a discrete graphics card and is comparable to other laptop models with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.
